What have we learned about the crisis?

Facultad de Ciencias Económicas y Empresariales (UGR) is going to celebrate a opinion article contest for honoring the day of that faculty's patron.

The subject about which you can write the article is "What have we learned about the crisis?", in this article everyone can express their reflections and points of view, about the current and important subject that is "crisis".

In this contest all student from University of Granada (grade students, masters student, doctorate students...) could take part on it. The only think that they must to take care with is the deadlines, you can send your article from February 24th to March 16th. 

The winner of the contest will receive a android's tablet and in addition will have the honor to read the article during the events of the day of the faculty's patron. However, there will be other prizes, for those awarded with special mentions, who will receive a coupon for 60€ to spend in the official shop of the University of Granada, named "La Bóveda".

The contest rules are available at the Secretariat Deanery in the lobby PIE faculty and on the website of the same.

Review of the seminar: “Gestión de equipos de trabajo e inteligencia emocional"

The last friday February 19th, 2016, Master in Economics organised a seminar which tittle was “Gestión de equipos de trabajo e inteligencia emocional", it was teaching by Manuel Prados Medina.


After the seminar, the representative of the students of Master in the Committee on Quality Assurance, Víctor Luis Gea García, wrote the next review about the seminar:


“Emotional Literacy has always the doors open"
Illiteracy of the current Spanish society is practically nonexistent, however, it is existing a discipline more important which is not told by the conventional study's programmes, this discipline is named as "Emotional Literacy". If anyone want to lead a work team, it is indispensable have "self-control, empathy and enthusiasm". 
With Professor Manuel Prados Medina, in a nice seminar and with a high participation from the assistants, the studient from Master in Economics (UGR) all of them had the opportunity to understand the importance of all those concepts and their implication on the work team.
This seminar is included in the course of Leadership and Emotional Intelligence for the Master in Economics.

How you can see with this review, the seminar was very instructive for the student and touche them about the new concept of "Emotional Literacy"

Laura-Lee Smith

Next Friday, February 26th, 2016. Master in Economics of the University of Granada has prepared a seminar for his students and for someone else that is interested in subjects about Corporate Social Responsibility and Risk Management.

 This seminar will be teaching by Laura-Lee Smith, current lecturer in University of Erfurt (Germany) and research associate in SRH Hochschule Berlin.

Laura Smith has been studying and working around the world and in places like France, New York, Washington D.C., Philadelphia and in other cities from USA. And in a couple of days she will be in Spain, more closely in Granada to share her knowledge about current and important subjects as Coporate Social Responsibility and Risk Management.

Inside in her personal skills, we find the languages that she can use fluently, besides her mother tongue is English, also she know German and French and has a little less level in Spanish but she can defend herself too.
Another fact about she, is her big list of professional membership. She is member of Women in International Security (WIIS), Humboldt Fundation Network, European International Studies Association (EISA) and International Studies Association (ISA).

Don't miss the oportunity that Master in Economics is given to you with Laura-Lee Smith. She is a awesome person and she has a incredible knowledge which will be share with all of us.

Master Thesis Defense

All the students from Master in Economics, must submit a dissertation's topic for the master thesis at the end of the postgraduate. Through this, the student will show his/her progress and knowledge that have been achieved during the master.
To get the master degree, students need pass a minimum number of credits with the courses and also need pass their master thesis defense.
However, to can be assessed, students must do and give their projects within the deadlines that the University has established for it. Because if one project is given off the period it will be rejected.
So, this is an important information to current students from de Master in Economics:
  1. Deadline
    •  Deadline to Submit Dissertation's topic and supervisor proposal: March 6th, 2016
  2. Ordinary Call
    • July 15th, 2016
    • Deadline for submitting Master thesis Defense: July 5th, 2016.

  3. Extraordinary Call
    • September 21th, 2016.
    • Deadline for submitting Master thesis Defense: September 11th, 2016.

FAQ: Free Mobility

The University of Granada defines a student from free  mobility as: "Student who is enrolled in an official university studies, makes a temporary stay in another university outside programs, conventions or agreements."
The steps that are necessaries for do a free mobility are:

  1. The student must be registered in a Postgraduate program in his/her University.
  2. It will be necessary that both, origin and foreign University, authorise to the student. To ask the permision must complete the pre-admision letter and send it to Master's Academic Coordinators. 
  3. Student must make the payment of the public prices of both universities.
Master in Economics allows their student take a free mobility with a 30 credit or 7 courses as maximum.

The main advantage, is that the student can ask the free mobility in any time, because the online application is open for the full year. And the answer to application take only a month, this is a fast procedure.

Master in Economics has a new poster that clearly shows how it works and the different types of studies that can be made. With this poster, you could have a vision that why is better study in Granada and why MEIM is the best choice for you.

If you are really interested, don't forget the deadlines for applications, because if you are a foreign student, you have the opportunity to sing up on March 11th and make sure that you achieve get in.


So, the main question that you have to do yourself is: Which is the best itinerary for you among the three different options that the Master in Economics are offering you.

Manuel Prados Medina


Manuel Prados Medina was born on June 11th, 1962 in Granada.



He has a bachelor's degree in Psychology and has a Master in Psychology of social work, psychology of violence, emergencies and disasters.



Currently he is a member of the First Intervention Team (EPI) in the Tax Agency. Thanks to the AUIP (Iberoamerican University Postgraduate Association), he is doing a study on psychosocial factors related to the process of active aging.



He has also been a teacher, to Tax Agency in courses as "Teamwork" and "Stress Management Techniques".



In addition, he has participated in various projects as "Objective Brain" and in different  lectures, some of these are "European Chemoreception Research Organization", "Consortium Clinical Neuropsychology (CNC)" and "Association Neuropsychologists Clinical Center of the National Public System (ANPES)" .



Among his publications can be found the following scientific articles:



  • "Concurrent TAL: aversive processing via capsaicin-sensitive vagal afferent fibers" in Neurobiology of Learning and Memory

  • "Psychometric properties of the Spanish version of the scale activism and radicalism intention" in the Journal of Social Psychology.


And finally, just mentioning that next Friday on February 19th, will be at the Facultad de Ciencias Económicas y Empresariales (Universidad de Granada) teaching the seminar "Management teams and emotional intelligence".
